    with the opening of the new mrt line to the east coast, it is so much easier for all of us to explore the region including me who will be looking forward to try out the new line in July as part of the Awal Muharram long weekend in Malaysia. here are the places accessible from these new stations: 1) Tanjong Rhu Promenade overlooking the Kallang Stadium and Reservoir via the Tanjong Rhu station 2) Fort Tanjong Katong and the colourful Mindanao Gum eucalyptus tree at Katong Park and Keppel Desalination Plant at Marina East via the Katong Park station 3) Sri Senpaga Vinayagar Temple and Eurasian Heritage Gallery along Ceylon Road via Haig Walk, Peranakan Houses along Koon Seng Road, Conserved Terrace Houses along East Coast Road, Parkland Green Coastal Playgrove and Road Safety Community Parks at East Coast Park via Marine Parade station. we can try out the famous Katong Laksa along East Coast Road opposite the Katong Plaza mall. 4) Siglap Linear Park and KPMG Wellness Garden, Singapore Water Park’s Lagoon and Xtreme Skate Park at East Coast Park via Siglap Station I'm looking forward to visit the Newater Centre close to the Bedok South station once the TEL5 opens in 2026.

    i have been to all of the landmarks in Putrajaya since last june. in fact, there are a few more places you can visit in Putrajaya on your next trip like: 1) Putrajaya wetlands housing a variety of birds like pelicans and egrets 2) prime minister's Seri Perdana residence 3) Putrajaya Marina next to the heriot watt university overlooking the golden seri gemilang bridge 4) Putrajaya International Convention Centre with the bird's eye view of Putrajaya's administrative district 5) putrajaya botanical garden featuring the sundial and Moroccan pavilion. 6) walking along the cyberjaya's lakeside drive overlooking the lake close to the Seri Puteri boarding school 7) warrior's square next to the ministry of home affairs complex along the Putrajaya roundabout, accessible from the Alamanda shopping mall and everly hotel. 8) putrajaya steps linking to the landmark monument from the putra square I'm planning to visit a park with several garden themes including a scenery similar to New Zealand called Taman Saujana Hijau in presint 11 in the future.

      The capacity for 10,000 people in each direction per hour remains unchanged when they switched from MRT to LRT. But I do agreed it will be better to have MRT than LRT so that they have the flexibility to increase the capacity when the needs arise in the future

    Wow! The construction seems to be advancing pretty well. That's great! [unrelated] why does Singapore has so many extra large 6 lane roads?! With the metro line now coming I strongly hope for the city to reconsider it's urban design choices. Sg shouldn't be only for the wealthy car-owners. The city should reduce the width of many of its roads and instead increase the size of sidewalks/pavements and build PROTECTED bike lanes (DO NOT just paint in the road and call it a bike lane!). This will naturally discourage people from using cars and chose the bike or public transport instead. Look at the Netherlands and France for inspiration on good practices in design that makes our cities more livable

    • @SGYap
      @SGYap 6 днів тому

      I think that is a great suggestion! Going forward with the JRL and Cross Island MRT lines are completed, many households and workplaces are connected by the MRT and the gov can consider converting some of the roads lanes for other uses

    I always had the notion Singapore’s MRT is longest in Asia or SEA. Wrong. In 1984, Shenzhen’s mayor came to learn the system. They started building in 2009, in 15 years they surpassed Singapore and is 2.5 times longer. Singapore ranks 15th next to Taiwan. China MRT ranks first by world’s mileage. USA/UK not even close.
